The Tipping Point

It’s been a while since my last blog post.

I’ve been just a teensy bit busy–traveling to Minnesota, hanging out with my kids, and launching A Prairie Devotional. Whew… let me catch my breath!

Sometimes in the super busy seasons of life we can get overwhelmed and forget why we are doing all the things we are doing. The reason deep down in our souls.

We pour our hearts into activities, hoping to spark joy within ourselves. Maybe bless the people around us. And sometimes I just like to feel productive. I wish productivity wasn’t that important to me, but it is.

And then there’s comes the point when I’ve gone to far, taken on too much. My brain turns to mush and a throbbing takes over. It’s a tipping point. And it happened to me yesterday.

I spent the afternoon in bed.

With an ice pack on my forehead.

Am I the only one? Please tell me, that you too struggle with over-commitment and saying no to really good things. Even when you know you should say no, but don’t have the heart to do it.

Are you at a tipping point too? Need to empty your plate so that the important things in your life get the attention they deserve?

Go ahead–say no. Or maybe just say “How about next week?”

My head is much better this morning and I’m off with friends to scope out my launch party venue. Dream and plan and hopefully pull off a fabulous party.

Taking one thing at a time and remembering that everything does not have to be perfect.

It’s not a wedding… but definitely a really fun party!

Archery. Panning for gold. A Pie Baking Contest. Pictures by the wagon and in the jailhouse. I’m so excited I can barely contain myself!

The covered wagon at Fort Hope… this place is amazing!

If you haven’t ordered your copy of A Prairie Devotional yet, it’s not too late to pre-order on Amazon for the August 6th delivery date!

Much love,

Wendi Lou

  4. I am so thrilled about this devotional! My dad was diagnosed with a brain tumor when I was nine years old and had three subsequent brain surgeries. It was life-changing for us but our faith got us through. Now I watch Little House on the Prairie with my two girls, and I’m so happy to have a faith based show about family values. Thank you!

  5. There are days when I have to take a stand and just say no to people or things that I know are too much for me. I suffer from extreme anxiety and I have a lot of stress from it. Currently, I am trying to just relax my mind and body so that I can take care of myself and my family too.

  6. I feel God the Father and Jesus the son are always with us through the spirit. I have empathy for your health issues as a person with Lupus, Achalasia, Cancer. The type of cancer I had doesn’t really respond to chemo or radiation so they removed my left kidney last mid-September. With it being stage III had to deal with the info that I have a 50/50 chance of still being here in five years. Left everything in God’s hands. Had to have this year my esophagus/stomach/upper intestine scoped due to problems of choking again with my Achalasia (though long ago I had the surgery for that). Some precancers were found but thankfully removed before they turned into cancer, so I know God was looking out for me to get my scope done a few months early. I understand that you do need to say “NO” sometimes to insure you get the proper rest so the body doesn’t become overly taxed. God Bless Your Endeavors.

  7. Thank you for following your calling. Two of the best things that ever happened to me were reading The Little House On The Prairie books and then when it turned into a TV show. Now I can add a 3rd for you keeping it going with your Little House devotional!
