Season 2, Episode 6, “The Spring Dance”

JUST ASK HIM
“Caroline, I was just waiting for you to ask me.”
Charles Ingalls
Have you ever tried your hardest to get someone to notice you? You may have tried every idea up your sleeve with no luck at all—that special someone oblivious to your hints of love and endless compliments.
Laura and Grace Snider are all too familiar with these frustrations as they tried but failed to get asked to the spring dance. After all the effort, they resort to creating jealousy, it’s a trick that rarely works out well—especially among well-worth-the-wait fellows. In the end, Caroline remembers what jealousy can do and offers some great advice, “Just ask, the worst they can say is no, and you’d be no worse off then you are now.”
It makes me wonder if God ever feels the same way with us. He’s trying to get our attention but nothing is working. He’s painting the sky with the brightest colors for us to enjoy and making the flowers bloom right outside our windows. He offers His love, protection, provision, forgiveness. We would be silly not to accept them, but our eyes are on other things.
The truth about God is that He won’t force Himself on you or on me. He has given mankind the right to choose if we will love Him. It’s up to us to ask. And so… He waits.
Ask for what, you may be thinking. What is it that God can give you? I can only speak for myself, but God has given me more than I could ever imagine. The life I have with Him is full of unending love, a love that will never leave me no matter how hopeless the circumstances seem to be. The peace He’s given me in the past is proving to be pretty handy during these uncertain times.
My challenge for today is to go ahead and ask—the same way Laura and Grace asked. They fessed up to all their shortcomings and laid it out plainly. Ask Him for whatever it is you need right now. Maybe it’s peace or patience with your children. Maybe it’s provision because of the loss of a job. Above all else, ask God to be with you and to never leave you. His answer will always be yes!
Verses to Ponder
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7 NIV
I love all who love me. Those who search will surely find me. Proverbs 8:17 NLT
Questions to Act On
Do you see God’s blessing around you? Do you feel God pursuing you with His love? Ask God for what you need and to be with you today.
Much Love,
Wendi
